E. Antoniou (Professor - Director)

Efstathios Antoniou

Efstathios Antoniou received his BSc degree in Mathematics (1994) and his PhD in Mathematical System Theory (2000), from the department of Mathematics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During the decade 2000–2010 he has been employed as a post-doctoral researcher in several research projects in the area of Mathematical System Theory and Computer Aided Control System Design (CACSD). Since 2004, he has also been employed as an Associate Student Advisor at the department of Computer Science of the Hellenic Open University, as visiting assistant professor at the department of Sciences of the Alexander Technological Educational Institution of Thessaloniki (ATEITh) and the department of Mathematics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2008, he was appointed as Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics at the department of Sciences of the ATEITh, and in March 2016 he was promoted to Associate Professor at the department of Information Technology of the ATEITh, which in 2019 merged with the International Hellenic University (IHU). In September 2022 he was promoted to Professor of “Numerical and Symbolic Computational Methods in Mathematical Systems Theory” at the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering of the IHU. His research interests lie in the area of Mathematical Systems Theory, Symbolic and Numerical Algorithms, Control Systems Theory, Polynomial Matrix Descriptions, Multi-Agent Dynamical Systems, Numerical Linear Algebra and Discrete Mathematics. Since March 2021 he is the Director of the Industrial Applied Mathematics and Operational Research Lab\" at the School of Engineering of the International Hellenic University.

V. Kostoglou (Professor)

Vasilis Kostoglou

He is member of academic staff at the Department of Informatics and Electronic Engineering of International Hellenic University being professor in Operational Research. He has worked previously as Mechanical Engineer and Operational Researcher in the private sector. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), an MSc in Operational Research from University of Lancaster (UK) and a PhD in Operational Research and Applied Informatics from University of Macedonia (Greece). Apart of his mother tongue (Greek) he speaks and writes English, French and German. His current teaching activities include Operational Research, Statistics and Project Management. In 1996 he established the Career Office of his University and he has been the project leader for 12 years. He participated actively in several programmes of the European Union, such as Erasmus/Socrates, Erasmus Mundus, Alpha, MedCampus, Leonardo da Vinci, Tempus and COST. He has been the project leader of five projects and participated in over 15 national or international projects. He has served as head of the IT department and is for the last 10 years vice-president of HELORS, the Hellenic Operational Research Society. Vassilis Kostoglou has been the author or co-author of six books and published over 900 articles in international journals and conference proceedings. He has also been appointed as referee for several journals and conferences and as evaluator for European and national projects.
His research interests focus on labour market investigation and its relationships with higher education, applications of OR techniques, statistical analysis, multicriteria decision analysis and project management.

K. Goulianas (Associate Professor)

Konstantinos Goulianas

Konstantinos Goulianas serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Informatics and Electronic Systems Engineering at the International Hellenic University in the field of “Programming of Scientific Applications and Numerical Analysis – Neural Networks”. He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Ioannina, Greece, in 1982, his master’s degree in Computer Science in 1987 from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), USA and in 2000 his PhD in the area of Artificial Neural Networks (Applications to Numerical Analysis Problems) from the Department of Applied Informatics of the University of Macedonia. From 1989 to 2005 he has been teaching as a Scientific-Laboratory Associate in the Department of Informatics of the Alexandrian Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (ATEIT), courses such as Numerical Analysis and Scientific Applications, Neural Networks, Operating Systems (VAX-VMS, UNIX), FORTRAN I, FORTRAN II, PASCAL, Programming Techniques (Algorithmic). In 2006 he was appointed Assistant Professor and in 2017 Associate Professor of the Department of Informatics and Electronic Systems Engineering teaching courses such as Numerical Analysis & Programming Science Applications, Machine Learning, Algorithms and Programming, Object Oriented Programming, Pattern Recognition – Neural Networks in the Undergraduate Department Program and participating in the teaching of the course Machine Learning at the Department Postgraduate Program Intelligent Internet Technologies. He has been involved as a researcher in research programs for more than 20 years. He has published more than 10 scientific articles in international journals and conference proceedings and more than 20 citations from other researchers have been found in these publications. He has been a referee at international scientific journals and conferences and has contributed as a member of committees at international scientific conferences. His research interests focus on Neural Networks, Machine Learning, Numerical Analysis, Chaos, and Signal Processing.
